From Edo-period ukiyo-e prints to later Meiji, shin-hanga and sosaku-hanga movements, we value works spanning the full history of Japanese printmaking. These include early polychrome nishiki-e prints, surimono, actor and theatre portraits, landscape series, bijin-ga and modern print traditions of the 20th century.
Key Edo-period artists include Suzuki Harunobu, Hokusai, Hiroshige and Utamaro, alongside major designers such as Kunisada, Kuniyoshi and Sharaku, whose works remain central to the international print market. Collectable print types include surimono, kibyoshi illustrated books, kakemono-e, diptychs and triptychs (oban formats), and series prints (meisho-e), reflecting the diversity of ukiyo-e production.
Later developments include shin-hanga artists such as Hasui Kawase, Hiroshi Yoshida, Hashiguchi Goyo and Ohara Koson, whose works are highly sought after for their refined landscapes, bijin-ga and kacho-e (bird-and-flower prints), alongside sosaku-hanga artists such as Onchi Koshiro and Yoshida Hodaka, representing the modern evolution of Japanese printmaking.
