Key artists and makers include cloisonné masters Namikawa Sosuke, Namikawa Yasuyuki and Ando Jubei, alongside leading metalworkers such as Suzuki Chokichi and Kashima Ikko. In Satsuma ceramics, important makers include Kinkozan Sobei, Yabu Meizan, Hattori Tadajiro, and Kyoto and Kaga workshops known for finely decorated export wares. Japanese ceramics from this period also include important porcelain traditions such as Arita ware, including Imari porcelain, and finely refined Nabeshima wares made for domestic use and export markets. In netsuke and inro, key artists include Kyoto and Osaka school carvers such as Masanao of Kyoto, Tomotada, and Tsunekazu, alongside lacquer master Shibata Zeshin.
