Our Guide to Timed Auctions

What is a timed auction?

Timed auctions are similar to live auctions but there is no auctioneer calling out the bids – instead there’s an extended time frame for bidding and whoever has the highest bid when the auction closes, wins the auction.

Getting started

Visit our Timed Auction Calendar and select the auction that interests you to view the online catalogue. When you are ready to bid on a Lot(s) select Sign in on the navigation menu.

New users will need to create a My Chiswick online account to register and bid in our Timed Auctions and to participate in online bidding in our Live Auctions via Chiswick Live. Follow the instruction on screen to created your account, once the registration is completed you will be approved to bid.

If you already have a My Chiswick account, follow the instructions on screen to sign in.

Placing bids

Select the relevant Lot and enter the amount you would like to bid before selecting the Place Bid button to confirm your bid. The value you bid excludes Buyer’s Premium of 25% + VAT.

If at any time during the auction you are outbid you will receive an email notifying you, giving you the chance to increase your bid. You can also keep track of all your bidding activity quickly and easily with your My Chiswick  account.

Closing Day

The sale will close at the scheduled auction end time, once this happens bidding will cease. If a bid is made in the final ten minutes of a lot closing, the time for that item will extend for a further ten minutes every time a new bid is placed, to allow all active bidders the chance to express their interest until a winning bidder is declared. Once all bidding is concluded the sale will close and you will recieve an email notifying you if your bids were successful or not. Successful bidders will be emailed an invoice with payment instructions.
