The Breitling Aerospace Concorde That Flew with the Fastest Crew on Earth

Built for Mach 2

A timepiece that embodies the spirit of supersonic flight

Few watches capture the partnership between precision and progress quite like the Breitling Aerospace Concorde. Produced in the late 1990s as a crew-issued watch for British Airways Concorde, this rare model remains one of the most evocative aviation timepieces of its era. Created for those who worked aboard the world’s only supersonic passenger jet, it reflects a shared commitment to Swiss engineering and aeronautical innovation.

When Breitling Met Concorde

When Concorde reduced the London to New York crossing to less than three hours, it became a global symbol of speed and sophistication. Seeking to commemorate this achievement, former Concorde pilot and British Airways Commercial Officer Jock Lowe partnered with Breitling to create a bespoke watch exclusively for Concorde’s flight and cabin crew.

The result was the Breitling Aerospace Concorde Ref. F75362PCONC, limited to only 100 examples. Each was privately presented to British Airways Concorde staff and never made available to the public.

At nine o’clock, the dial carries the “M2” emblem, referencing the aircraft’s cruising speed of Mach 2 (approximately 1,350 mph). At three o’clock, the distinctive outline of the British Airways Concorde is engraved, an elegant nod to the aircraft’s unmistakable form. These details transform a precision instrument into a lasting tribute to supersonic flight.

A Watch with Provenance

This particular example, purchased on 6 May 2003, was owned by Iona Ferguson, one of only 200 British Airways crew members selected from more than 14,500 staff to serve aboard Concorde.

Ferguson was the youngest crew member to acquire the Aerospace Concorde and was part of the team on the final British Airways Concorde flight, marking the end of the supersonic era.

Serving on Concorde required exceptional composure and precision. The aircraft carried the airline’s most distinguished passengers, and its crew represented the pinnacle of professionalism. Ferguson’s watch is therefore more than a fine instrument. It is a tangible link to one of aviation’s most celebrated chapters.

Where Function Meets Heritage

Introduced in the 1980s, the Breitling Aerospace became a benchmark in pilot’s watches. Its lightweight titanium case provided strength without bulk, while the hybrid analogue-digital display offered clarity and versatility.

Functions such as a chronograph, countdown timer, alarm, dual-time display and perpetual calendar were all controlled via a single crown, making it both practical and intuitive. The Concorde Edition retained this functionality but added historical resonance, embodying the same precision, reliability and understated elegance that defined the Concorde itself.
