Most Wanted (Part 2)

No prizes for guessing that the second bag on my list of most wanted is the Chanel classic flap bag also known as the 2.55.

Designed by Coco Chanel in February 1955, hence the name 2.55 (the month and the year of design) the flap has maintained its popularity since its conception. Designed as a practical and stylish alternative to standard clutch bags of the day and reissued by Karl Lagerfeld in 2005, these simple flap bags with chain straps have become a timeless symbol of elegance, taste and luxury.

Lot 355 is a very special Chanel 2.55, a large size metallic blue python version, no less. Bought by the vendor in the south of France three years ago and hardly used since, this stunning bag is as rare as it is beautiful. This bag could be one lucky buyer’s Christmas present (to themselves, or whatever!) for £3,000 – a snip when you consider the original price of 7,290 euros!

Whilst a classic flap seems to be the choice of every handbag enthusiast I do understand that metallic python skin might not be for everybody. To satisfy those who like the classic quilted leather Chanel is famous for I have PLENTY on offer! Lot 178 is a Chanel waist bag based on the Classic flap (est £500-700) and is perfect for hands-free January sales shopping! Lot 179, a Chanel quilted flap wallet (£300-500), lot 232, a purple quilted wallet in pristine condition (£300-500), and lot 297 (which is my favourite bag in the whole sale *cough* hint) a beautiful vintage Chanel holdall (£800-1200) should all help satisfy any classic Chanel cravings! Chanel’s latest interpretation of the classic flap bag is the Chanel Boy, introduced in 2011. On offer is the larger of these Boy bags; Lot 163 is estimated at £2,000-4,000.

And that's just some of the Chanel in the sale. Please check the catalogue for more amazing Chanel items!
