7/01/2010 Chiswick Curates
The Sale on 5th January, which is traditionally one of our largest sales of the year - had no shortage of surprises. The highlight of the sale was the Worcester (Flight Barr and Barr) dish, photographed below from a service ordered by George III. Her Majesty the Queen has a large service, but very few examples are known in private hands. This is a very rare survivor in exceptional mint condition. From a house in Putney, the plate attracted huge interest before the sale, with six phone bidders. In the end the hammer came down at a record £4,600.
With the first big sale of the year now out of the way, we are now planning our next 'special' sales. After the success of the last specialist book sale, we are taking in lots for the sale 16th March. This will again be a sale organised by our specialist from Christie's, Nick Worskett. With already a number of good books in the sale, entries are invited up until the end of February. To enquire about this sale please email Nick directly on firstname.lastname@example.org
The next general 'fine' sale is the following week after the book sale - 23rd March. We are taking in lots for this now, with already a strong silver section in the making.
