Our Photographs department, one of the very few in the UK auction market, hosts sales that bring together rare and historically important 19th century works and a plethora of fine 20th and 21st century images and photobooks with subjects ranging from fashion, art, travel, portraiture, and history as well as culture, personal viewpoints and beyond. 

Our sales regularly include works from important 19th century photographers including William Henry Fox Talbot, Gustave Le Gray, Oscar Rejlander, Herbert Ponting, Felice Beato, Linnaeus Tripe, Julia Margaret Cameron, and Samuel Bourne. Our modern offerings feature the likes of Robert Capa, Willy Ronis, Berenice Abbott, Ernst Haas, Bruce Davidson, Andy Warhol, and David Bailey. We are also delighted to feature works by modern masters such as Horst P Horst, Man Ray, and Irving Penn. 

Recently we have been delighted to sell works such as Mainbocher Corset, Paris, 1939, by Horst P Horst, sold for £10,625; Woman in Dior hat with Martini (Lisa Fonssagrives-Penn) by Irving Penn, sold for £9,615; The Temple of Komumboo, c.1858 by Francis Frith, sold for £6,875; and The Archaeological Photo Works of Delhi (album) c.1890s, sold for £7,500.
