A set of two albums, published by E. Francfort editeurs, Imp. Lemercier & Cie., each comprising 40 photolithographic prints, image sizes 13 x9.5 cm (smallest) to 18 x 25cm (largest), mounted recto/verso on blue album pages, depicting portraits of French Artists and their paintings exhibited at the Salon in 1884; each typed captioned and with the facsimile artists' signatures on lower left margin. Subjects include: Jean Béraud, À la Salle Graffard; Paul Grolleron, Under Observation; Pierre Puvis de Chavannes, The Sacred Wood; Julius L. Stewart, A Five o'clock Tea; Gustave Courtois, The Burial of Atala; Madame Marie-Adrien Lavieille, The Anniversary; Leon Comerre, Pierrot; Paul-Alexndre-Alfred Leroy, Mordechai; Raphaël Collin, Summer; Emile Boutignu, The Departures of the Diligence; Evariste-Vital Luminais, The Flight of Gradlon; Madame Fanny Fleury, Bébé Dorot; Gustave Surand, The Mercenaries of Carthago; among others.
Two volumes bound in decorated publisher's brown morocco leather, with title in gilt, borders stamped in black and gilt on front cover, spine paneled in gilt.
