Meiji Period, 19th Century, signed Dai Nihon Kyoto ju Miyabe Atsuyoshi

Of elongated ovoid form, each body raised on a splayed foot and terminating above in a gently-flared neck, decorated in copper, silver, gilt and shakudo takazogan with a group of egrets wading amidst rushes and flying across the sky, each base incised Dai Nihon Kyoto ju Miyabe Atsuyoshi

PROVENANCE:

Acquired by the current owner's grandfather, Harold Jack Baker Gulley, who lived in Dulwich, London and died in 1943. He ran a trading company from London to the Far East between 1900 and 1930, and would bring back works of art he discovered as gifts for his wife and children;

Thence by descent.
