A rectangular lacquer wood panel decorated with gold with a scene of a fisherman launching his sampan beneath a tree, signed to lower left, 35 x 24.5cm.

Nguyen Huyen (1915 – 1994), was cofounder of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association and is known for his iconic work depicting a farmer beside a blue buffalo featured on the 100 dong banknote issued in 1946. He is best known for his work as a lacquer artist.
