A George II sterling silver cream jug, London 1751 by Samuel Meriton I (first reg. 10^th May 1739)

Of baluster form upon a spreading circular foot, the double C scroll handle leading to a wavy rim. The body with embossed foliage, rocaille, C scrolls and long tailed birds, the front with an asymmetrical C scroll cartouche, traces of a crest. The foot with flat chased rocaille. The underside of foot engraved with initials P.S in Roman script. Fully marked underneath.
