A fine and large Japanese mixed-metal and bronze vase and cover, Meiji period

The body of baluster form atop a pierced scrolling foot, decorated in high relief to one side to depict figures against a backdrop of dramatic crashing waves, the reverse with a mythical dragon-form figure emerging from cresting waves as two bannerman stand to the side, all meticulously decorated in gold and shakudo with intricate patterns, the shoulder set with a pair of ornate mythical beast handles, topped with a domed cover surmounted by a protruding gilt-decorated finial
