Provenance:

The collection of Pat and David Redstone
Pat and David Redstone began collecting in the 1950s, acquiring works that interested them – primarily in stoneware and porcelain. David Redstone is co-author of the monograph on Bow porcelain. Chiswick Auctions would like to thank the Redstone family for allowing us to present the current work to auction.

Notes:

The range of cubists cats designed by Louis Wain included nine models in total with names such as the "Lucky Sphinx Cat," "Lucky Futurist Cat", "Lucky Haw Haw Cat", "Lucky Pig," and "Lucky Knight Errant". While initially a commercial flop in Britain, these ceramics designed by Louis Wain found interest in the United States. A significant shipment intended for the US market was famously lost when the carrier ship was torpedoed by a German U-Boat during World War I, therefore surviving examples are rare.
Chiswick Auctions is delighted to present eight of the nine models.
