Silver gelatin print, printed 1986, image/sheet size 30 x 40cm, signed, dated, and inscribed by the photographer in ink verso, with Giacomelli's title and "Il Teatro Della Neve" stamp verso, featuring lines from Francesco Permunian's poem.
In 2021, Getty curator Virginia Heckert noted that the present image was originally published as a cropped version (four figures) for Giacomelli's series Le Mie Marche: "In the series My Marche, shimmering figures engage in a mysterious choreography with the sea at Marina di Montemarciano, a coastal town south of Senigallia. Giacomelli used multiple exposures, slow shutter speeds, and experimental lighting to create haunting images that underscore his deep connection with the Marche region’s seaside. He would later incorporate a different cropping of the image with five figures in the series The Theater of Snow."
The Getty holds the cropped version of this negative, from Le Mie Marche, in their collection [ref.2016.179.53]
