Irish, Caribbean and military interest

A scrap album including several watercolours and documents, initially compiled by Augusta Richardson of Nassau (British Guiana?), 1843, including:

Two watercolour views by an F. G. Cregan, signed and dated ‘1863’ on the mounts, titled: ‘Curragh Encampment (The Rifle Ranges from Cregan’s Hut)’ and ‘Curragh (Cavalry Encamping ground’, 20 x 27cm; with later typed copies of a letter by Maria Cregan, an eyewitness account of the Easter Rising;

A coastal mountain landscape, watercolour, possibly Caribbean, indistinctly initialled;

‘Nassau, West Indies, Dr Richardson’s house; Drawn by Augusta Richardson’, and seven others similar, pencil on card;

Various love poems and passages to or from Augusta Richardson, labelled ‘Demerara 1850’: “Of our walks in dull Demerara. Then oh they check not - memory’s way. Nor a thought to so shorten its tether. But think of Christ Church where we pray’d and finally walked home together, Let dear Kingston too, have its share, and the soldier with his arms at the carry of the report - that flew about town…”;

Flower and animal designs, with embossments;

Further landscape and architectural views;

Passport for William Cossart, signed, issued by the Earl of Granville, 1872;

Ephemera relating to the Cossart family, who were involved in the Madeira wine trade with Cossart Gordon & Co.;

MS extract of the will of David Dewar (1748 - 1794), plantation owner;

c. 50 pages with drawings or text, some loose, original boards detached and spine lacking, 4to.
