An oblong folio album of 81 albumen prints, image size 9 x5cm (smallest) to 25 x33cm (largest), pasted down recto/verso on album pages, overall measuring 39 x49cm, most with manuscript captions in ink on page margins; some numbered, and captioned in the negative; featuring images of Malta, Athens, Egypt, Constantinople, and Italy. Photographers include Petros Moraites (1835-19058); Pascal Sébah (1823-1886); Giorgio Sommer (1834-1914), among others. Subjects include various general views of Malta, the harbour and Arsenal, and the King's Gate, La Valletta; the Pompey's Pillar, Alexandria; the entrance to the Canal Suez; the port of Ismailia, Egypt; Serapeum, near Ismailia; several portraits of North-African men, women, and children in traditional clothing, such as a Falaha, a Kabyle woman, and an old man holding a rifle; a general view of The Bosphorus Strait, Constantinople; the Islamic Cemetery, Scutari, Constantinople; a view of the interior of Hagia Sophia, Constantinople; the so-called Lantern of Diogenes, Athens, by Petros Moraites; a general view of the Acropolis of Athens; four portraits studies of Greek men and women in traditional clothing; the Ancient Greek Theatre of Taormina, Sicily; the Amphitheatre of Syracuse, Sicily; the Cathedral of Messina, Sicily; an aerial view of the Gulf of Naples and the Vesuvium; and a view of Genoa, among others.
