A pair of early 19th century Portuguese silver candlesticks, Lisbon circa 1815 by Joaquin Prudêncio Vital Dinis (reg. 1812)
Maria I period. Each of square bases raised by four ball and claw feet with leafy junctions, the domed centre with chased stylised acanthus leaves rising to a faceted octagonal baluster column with leafy knop and a similar capital. Fixed circular drip pans. Each marked to the side with maker’s mark JPVD (V. 445) assay mark of Laurindo Costa (V.34 from 1802), assay scrapes underneath, also all again to the sconces (2)
