A Victorian sterling silver mounted claret jug, London 1864 by George John Richards and Edward Charles Brown

The clear glass body of globular form with a tall waisted faceted neck, the mounts with a shaped pouring neck, a hinged lid of conforming shape surmounted by an amorphous scroll finial. The double C scroll handle, with an pull lever to retract lid. Faceted glass stopper. The body with a wheel engraved band of Greek key between beading, radial star cut base. The mounts with engraved decoration of Greek key below a band of anthemia, and a beaded band. The lid flat chased with rocaille C scrolls reserved with lattice work. Fully marked to lip, and part-marked to lid interior.
