A Charles I sterling silver slip top spoon, London circa 1635 by Richard Crosse (active circa 1632-42)

Fig shaped bowl with a tapering rectangular stem, the reverse of stem punched with initials M S. Fully marked, date letter obliterated, maker’s mark RC three pellets above and a rosette below.

Length – 16.3 cm / 6.35 inches

Weight – 46 grams / 1.48 ozt

apprenticed to specialist spoon maker Robert Jygges in 1625.
