An assembled set of four George I/II Irish silver candlesticks, Dublin 1724,25, 28 by Mathew Walker (active 1716-60)

Each with octagonal bases rising to knopped and faceted columns with a octagonal knop below rounded capitals with faceted rim. A pair 1724, each later engraved with a modern crest of a griffin’s head between wings, one 1725 engraved underneath with mid-18th century initials I over E * H in Roman script, one 1728 slightly later engraved to the well with traces of a spinster’s coat of arms in a lozenge with foliate mantling, underneath with initials I over W * R in naïve Roman script. Each fully marked to the wells. (4)
