A George II sterling silver cream jug, London 1749 by Henry Hayens (reg. 13th Oct 1749)
Of bombe oval form upon a cast rococo asymmetrical foot rocaille and S scrolls, the leaf capped triple C scroll handle leading to an embossed and chased scallop shell section, reflected in the underside of the spout as cast and applied. The body formed of two cast sections with decoration to each side of a billy goat with a chinoiserie pagoda type building in the background with trees, heightened with textured decoration, all within a cartouche of C scrolls. Fully marked underneath.
