A FINE JAPANESE CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL JAR AND COVER BY NAMIKAWA YASUYUKI

Meiji Period, Late 19th Century, signed Kyoto Namikawa

The small globular jar delicately decorated with a trio of oval cartouches adorned with butterflies vibrant chrysanthemums, blossoms and leafy sprays, all on a dark-blue ground with scattered flowerheads and foliate pendent motifs around the shoulder, raised on a gently-splayed foot worked with swirling patterns around the edge, topped with a domed cover set with a chrysanthemum-form finial, the base set with a square silver tablet inscribed with a four-character Kyoto Namikawa, together with a purchase receipt, possibly dated to the Meiji 9th year, corresponding to 1876, June 13th
