A Jean-Michel Frank design, these “Croisllon” table lamps were adapted by COMTE, and made circa 1935, for a collector with an apartment in the famous Art Deco Kavanagh Building, the tallest of its kind in Latin America at the time. The lobby was decorated with vellum panels from Frank’s company, Chanaux & Co, and furnished with Frank and Jean Royere models.
Jean-Michel Frank was the master of elegant classic minimalist interiors. He combined the fine lines and proportions of the late 18th century with a unique sense of modernism. The severity of modern linear design Frank tempered with warm, rich and rare materials such as shagreen, mica, straw marquetry and vellum.
