A late Victorian Scottish silver mounted bog oak sgian-dubh knife, circa 1900
The handle carved with three thistles, the terminal set with a foil backed facet cut quartz. Leather scabbard with silver mounted with engraved foliate scrolls and thistle heads. The upper one with a crest of a cubit arm in armour, holding an escutcheon with a horse’s head, all between branches of laurel. Steel blade branded for Millidge & Son in Edinburgh,
