A George III sterling silver double tea caddy, London 1780 by John Denzilow (reg. 27th October 1774)

Of oval form with flat lid with a flush hinged raised by a detachable urn shaped finial. The body with bright cut engraved decoration of pendant swags and bell flower drops, each side with an oval cartouche one engraved with contemporaneous initials SAB in flourished cursive script. The body and lid bright cut engraved geometric and rosette borders. The interior with a dividing wall with gadrooned rims. Fully marked underneath the lid with lion passant only.

Weight – 459 grams / 14.76 ozt
