THREE SAFAVID CUERDA SECA POTTERY TILES WITH ANIMALS
Safavid Iran, 17th century

Comprising three compositional tiles each of square shape, painted in cobalt blue, turquoise, brown, green, yellow and manganese purple on white ground, possibly once part of the same composition, the decoration consisting of geese in flight amongst curly Chinese ru clouds, green vegetation below them and a section of a fish-filled lake with rosettes and shrubs along its shore, framed within decorative scrollwork of rosette and split-palmette sprays, each 23cm x 23.1cm.
