A pair of Victorian sterling silver comports or tazza, London 1856 by Robert Garrard II (reg. 16th April 1818)

Of dished circular scalloped form upon a lobed scalloped spreading pedestal foot, with central lobed knop. Flat chased and engraved decoration of C scrolls, acanthus leaves and lattice work. Each fully marked to the underside of dish, each stamped with numerals 50 to the underside of the foot. (2)

Height – 18.1 cm / 7.15 inches

Weight – 1952 grams / 62.76 ozt

A shorter pair of comports of 1849 by the same maker and of the same form and decoration was sold Bonham’s San Francisco, 9 May 2010, lot 3729 ($1586 incl. prem)
