Glasgow 1906 by George Edward and Sons
An Edwardian Scottish sterling silver fruit bowl

Of rounded circular form with a moulded rim. The plannished body with embossed decoration of trailing dog roses against waves to the rim. Fully marked to rim.

Diameter – 25.8 cm / 10.2 inches

Height – 13.1 cm / 5.2 inches

Weight – 811 grams / 26.07 ozt

Notes:

The use of prunus on this bowl may reflect the infulence of Edwards importing silver from the wider world including Indian and Chinese wares. A large dragon handled punch bowl, marked for Qiu Ji, retailed by Wang Hing also with import marks for Glasgow 1895 by Edwards and Sons was sold Christies New York 16/28 Oct 2014, Lot 2 ($35,000 including premium). A Lucknow bowl with import marks for Glasgow 1894 by Edwards and Sons was sold these rooms 23 March 2023, lot 119 (£750 incl. prem).
