An early Victorian sterling silver bachelor teapot, London 1838 by William Hewitt
Of lobed circular “melonized” form upon four die-struck rocaille C scroll bracket feet. The fluted curved spout opposite an acanthus capped C scroll handle fitted with ivory insulators pinned to scroll sockets, the hinged domed lid with scalloped edge surmounted by a detachable cast flower finial, The body and lid with chased decoration of floral C scrolls alternating as roses and thistles with rocaille against a textured ground, a vacant cartouche to each side. Fully marked underneath, part-marked to handle and lid.
