Royal Ambassadorial - An early George III sterling silver table fork, London 1763 by Isaac Callard (reg. 7^th Feb 1726, d.c.1770)

Hanoverian pattern, three pronged. The terminal engraved with the Royal Coat of Arms of King George III of Great Britain (used 1760-1801), the obverse engraved with a crest of a demi - lion rampant supporting a pillar. Fully marked.

A candidate for the crest is Sir Edmund John Monson, 1st Baronet (1834 – 1909) of Thatched House Lodge, Surrey, third son of William Monson, 6th Baron Monson and Eliza Larken Monson. An accomplished diplomat who held many positions throughout his lifetime including; Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to His Majesty The Emperor of Austria, King of Hungary 1893–1896 and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the French Republic 1896–1905.
