An early Victorian sterling silver christening mug, London 1838 by James Charles Edington

Of rounded circular form upon a circular foot with chased decoration, a cast acanthus capped double C scroll handle leading to a moulded rim. The body with embossed decoration of floral sprays and leafy branches, an asymmetrical C scroll cartouche to the front engraved with contemporaneous initials TSH in cursive script above the date 1839. The underside of handle with a similar cartouche reserved with flat chased lattice work. Gilt interior. Fully marked to the right of handle.
