A Louis XVI late 18th century French silver coffee pot (verseuse), Paris 1782, makers mark obscured

Of baluster form raised on three splay legs with pad feet and cartouche junctions. The spout with fluted decoration, at a right angle to a detachable screw threaded turned fruit wood handle. The hinged lid with cavetto edge, surmounted by a flattened knop finial, all raised by a scroll thumbpiece. Engraved to the front with British crests of a lion's head erased collared vair, and a fox’s head erased. Marked underneath with date letter T (13th July 1782-11th July 1783), charge mark of Henri Clavel (reg. 13th July 1780) and maker’s mark.

Height – 21.2 cm / 8.25 inches

Weight – 581 grams / 18.68 ozt

The first crest is for Lapthorne or North

The second is for Bellety, Bellot and Cleeve
