An Edwardian sterling silver commemorative figure of ‘The Kemp Leopard’, London 1902 by Edward Barnard & Sons Ltd

Formed as a leopard statant collared, with head slightly turned, the body with textured decoration and chased spots. Engraved to the collar ‘Coronation 1902’. Engraved underneath front paw with numerals 197. Fully marked to tip of tail.

Length – 8.6 cm / 725 inches

Weight – 282 grams / 9.07 ozt

Commissioned by The Skinner Company, from Barnard (ref: AAD/2009/8/441 S, Edward Barnard and Sons Ltd, manufacturing silversmiths, records, 1805 – 2006, V&A) the Guild’s crest is a spotted leopard referred as the "The Kemp Leopard" after Roger Kemp who was Master of the Guild in 1680.
