Soon after to become the most influential English-language publication in the Far East. Raised in Japan, Wilfrid later served as Editor-in-Chief of The Japan Advertiser. Early on he developed a keen interest in Chinese and Japanese works of art, building an extensive collection during the 1920s and 1930s with a particular focus on ceramics and jades. With the outbreak of the Second World War, the Fleisher family was forced to leave Japan, eventually settling in Sweden.
