A pair of early 19th century Austrian 13 loth (812 standard) silver candlesticks, Vienna probably 1805 by Paul Mayerhofer (active 1785-1811)
The bases of circular form rising to a tapering cylindrical column with rounded capitals and circular trip pans. The base with engraved decoration of anthemia interspersed with fruiting vine reserved against a textured ground. The top of column and capitals with similar decoration. The base with a die-rolled edge of anthemia. Marked to the base edge and top of drip pans with standard/date mark, and maker’s mark PM in monogram script, also marked to the base with 1806 Vienna tax mark for medium objects (repunzierung), 1807 stored wares VR mark (vorratstempel), 1809-10 FR tax mark (notstempel-frei, freistempel).
