A late 19th / early 20th century Chinese export silver small mug, Canton circa 1900, marked Zhao Ji, retailed by Wo Long
Qing dynasty. Of tapering cylindrical form with a moulded edge, the handle formed as a prunus branch with applied flowers at junction. The body with embossed and chased decoration of a plethora of birds amidst flowering prunus, with a vacant shield shape cartouche, all against a textured ground. Double skinned interior. Gilt interior. Marked underneath with artisan mark 朝記 (ZHAO JI, the workshop of Zhao), and retailer’s mark WL.
