A late 19th century Chinese export silver tea caddy, Canton marked Shang, import marks for Edinburgh 1898 by J.M

Qing dynasty. Of quatrefoil form upon four stepped feet, a gently domed pull off cylindrical cap. The body with embossed and chased decoration of panels of Chinese dragons amidst clouds, the front with a circular cartouche engraved with an initial R in flourished cursive script. Marked underneath with artisan mark 尚 (SHANG), and numeral 95. Scottish import marks to the bezel, and lid.
