A rare early 20th century Iraqi silver dallah coffee pot, Baghdad circa 1930 by Shuwa’ Jangana and Bros
of octagonal baluster form upon a collet foot, a curved spout opposite a C scroll handle leading to a panelled high domed lid surmounted by a panelled pyriform finial. Maker’s mark underneath.
Height – 16 cm / 6.25 inches
Weight – 308 grams / 9.9 ozt
Shuwa’ Jangana & Bros were the principle Jewish silversmithing firm in Baghdad in the 1920’s and 30’s. A pair of ashtrays of this form and marked the same are illustrated in History of Iraqi Silver (2017) by Mohammed Al Baghdadi.
