***“After some service in Egypt he went to join the Serbian forces in their struggle with Bulgaria in 1885. He arrived at the beginning of November, shortly before the battles of Slivnica and Pirot. The Bulgarians defeated the Serbs at Slivnica on 17 November, pushing them back to Pirot. Here the Bulgarians attacked again on 27 November and an armistice was called on 28 November after the Serbs had retreated in disorder with heavy casualties.
