A Chinese famille-verte 'floral' teapot, Qing dynasty, Kangxi period
清康熙 五彩花卉紋茶蓋壺

The finely potted teapot of tall form with a pear-shaped body, loop handle and a slightly curved spout, decorated to the exterior with two panels depicting two large floral sprays issuing from rockwork, further adorned by cartouches above enclosing stylised flowers and scroll work, the shoulder with floral medallions against a green ground and the mouth with a band of floral scrolls, the handle and spout with stylised floral bands, together with an associated cover similarly decorated

From the esteemed Collection of Mr. Basil Ionides and the Hon. Mrs. Nellie Ionides;

Thence by descent to Toby Jessel (1934 – 2018), a British Conservative Party politician, who was the Member of Parliament for Twickenham from 1970 to 1997 and married to

the renowned actress Eira Heath (b. 17, 1936), best known for A Man for All Seasons (1966), Gaslight Theatre (1965) and Barnaby Rudge (1960).
