A Chinese blue and white 'Journey to the West' brush pot, Qing dynasty, Guangxu period
清光緒 青花人物故事圖筆筒

Finely potted with gently-waisted sides and a flared rim, painted to the exterior with a continuous scene from 'Journey to the West', one side depicting Sun Wukong, Zhu Balie and Sha Wujing, the other side with three individuals seated at a table encircled by rock formations, above them a plaque with an inscription that reads Pan Si Dong ('Cave of the Silken Web'), the base with a double circle, with wood stand and box
