Ferdinand Parpan was a French sculptor known for his elegant, stylized figures, particularly his series of musicians. Trained as an engraver and painter before becoming a sculptor, he developed a modern figurative style influenced by Art Deco, with smooth surfaces and simplified forms. This is one of his most notable works, this bronze sculpture depicts an accordion player whose body and instrument are fused into a single flowing form. This piece exemplifies Parpan’s interest in rhythm, posture, and the intimate connection between musician and instrument.
