An early 20th century continental 935 standard silver gilt and enamel cigarette case, German or Swiss with import marks for London 1927 by George Stockwell
Rectangular form with a hinged lid with a shaped thumbpiece. The lid with painted enamel scene of a bucolic scene two maidens and a man against classical urns, besides a waterway, with three sheep in attendance, reserved with turquoise pellets with black enamel. The sides with engine turned decoration topped with translucent blue guilloche enamel, the underside with the same guilloche enamel reserved the same as the lid. Gilt interior. The base bezel stamped 935 and with import marks. Import marks only.
