CURVES & CONTRASTS OF THE HUMAN FIGURE, c.1938. A pair of silver gelatin print nude studies, image sizes 28 x 24cm and 28.5 x 21.5cm, sheet sizes 30.5 x 25.5cm, each numbered '404' and '406' in pencil verso. Together with a brochure advertising the publication of 'Curves & Contrasts of the Human Figure', published by The Bodley Head, London, 1938. The brochure notes, "The use of the human naked body as the medium for photographic expression is rapidly developing into something valuable and beautiful; valuable for the artist, and beautiful for all who appreciate the body's marvellous variety and loveliness and the possibilities, inherent in photography, of revealing more and more of these qualities by careful choice of model, pose, and lighting. This volume is one of the best examples of what the camera can do with the nude figure."
