唐 陶加彩天王立像

Formed in two sections, the Guardian modelled standing atop a stout recumbent ram, his left leg perched on the beast's head, dressed in layered tunics and armour moulded with fierce taotie-masks at the shoulders, the face with ferocious expression and large bulging eyes, with traces of pigment to the surface

approx. 102cm high

This lot comes with Oxford thermoluminescence certificate no. C123e35, dating the piece to the Tang Dynasty (618-906 CE)
