A rare late 19th century Anglo – Indian silver spoon, Madras circa 1890 by Peter Orr

Raj period. The terminal of Swami pattern with a chased finial formed as Ganesha, the open work chased stem leading to an oval bowl with engraved decoration of man with a parasol and an ewer in the hand, and to front and back with bands of lozenges. Below terminal engraved VENAYAGUR. To the side of bowl incuse stamped ORR.

Length – 21.1 cm / 8.45 inches

Weight – 100 grams / 3.22 ozt
