TWO LOOSE FOLIOS OF NASKH CALLIGRAPHY
Iran, dated 1131 AH (1718) and 1186 AH (1772)
Arabic manuscripts on paper, comprising the final folio of an essay, with 9ll. of black ink naskh script, full diacritic marks in black, signed Ahmad Neirizi, dated 1131 AH (1718), set within gold and black rules and a pink margin, laid on yellow paper, framed and glazed, the text panel 19.5cm x 12.5cm, 29cm x 19.7cm including the frame; and another folio with Sura al-Shams (91), 10ll. including the illuminated chapter heading cartouche and signature, the text within gold staccato bands, black diacritic marks, gold rosette verse markers, signed in nasta’liq script Muhammad Hashim, dated 1186 AH (1772), set within gold and black rules and a blue margin, mounted, framed and glazed, the text panel 18cm x 11cm, 43.2cm x 35cm including the frame.
