A CHINESE CARVED CELADON JADE 'MYTHICAL BEAST' CENSER

18th - 19th Century

十八至十九世紀 青玉雕瑞獸蓋爐

The censer carved in the form of a mythical beast, the cover as the beast's head, with a backward curving horn and mouth agape to reveal his fangs, the hollow body supported on four clawed feet, the rear with an upright bushy tail, the stone with natural inclusions, together with a carved wood stand with bats flying amongst ruyi clouds.
