A cased very large mid-20th century French 950 standard silver gilt cigarette or cigar box, Paris circa 1940 by Puiforcat
In the Régence style of rectangular form with a hinged lid, guilloche borders, the lid with flat chased decoration of band of lattice work rosettes interspersed with scrolls and stylised canthus leaf motifs against a textured ground. Later wooden later. Marked to base and lid, stamped underneath Puiforcat Paris. Housed in a later fitted cloth bound case branded for Hermes.
