EIGHT OTTOMAN PARCEL-GILT ENGRAVED ZARF HOLDERS
Ottoman Turkey, late 19th - early 20th century
Each of typical rounded cup-like shape, resting on a short splayed foot, rising to a circular rim with a scalloped profile, the exterior engraved with a pseudo-tughra and an armorial coat of arms, each zarf holder stamped with the tughra mark of the Ottoman Sultan Abdul Hamid II (r. 31 August 1876 – 27 April 1909) and the sah assay mark, 5.2cm diam. and 4.5cm high.
